I didn't think I'd be too good at keeping this bad boy up. And I was right!
Some things that Scott and I have been doing and enjoying over the last couple of weeks:
1- FALL WEATHER!!!!
2- Furman Homecoming and a return trip to Greenville, then Columbia
3- A few dozen trips to Birmingham- seems like we have to go about every other week
4- Alabama football
5- Halloween candy and an Avett Brother's concert
6- Experimenting in baking (scones, bagels, breads, muffins, pita bread, etc)
7- Trying out some majorly yummy recipes (cream of chicken and wild rice soup recipe to follow- seriously THE BEST!!!)
8- Napping
9- Very little yard work- my hanging ferns look like tumble weeds, and my potted begonias are still blooming, but are embarrassing- its like wearing white after Labor Day... Soooooo out of season.
10- Work, work, work.
I promise I'll be back soon. We are really getting bad at taking pictures, so once I have some good ones, I'll get to posting more often.

The one about NED.
Ned, Ned, Ned. Where do I begin? Well, a couple of months ago my doctor found a small nodule on my thyroid. We went to an endocrinologist to have an utltrasound and then biopsy of it. Not exactly how I pictured my first ultrasound.... However, the first time we saw him, we named him- Ned the Nodule. Ned's biopsy came back as "suspicious" which means it may or may not be cancer, and the only way to tell is to take it out. After exploring our options, we finally ended up on surgery. We put our feelers out and had a good friend find us a fantastic surgeon at Vanderbilt. After much prayer and consideration, and second opinions, I decided to go ahead and have the surgery to have half of my Thyroid removed... Which is what I did.. Yesterday!
My mom came into town on Tuesday. We went shopping for a nice big scarf to cover up the gash on my neck. I spend one night in the hospital, and Scott has created a wonderful little palate for me on the sofa with everything I need. I am not a fan of anesthesia for sure, but I am told I was very kind and sweet to my nurses in the recovery room. Of course, I'd be kind to anyone who gave me a nice big shot of pain killers! Initial analysis of the nodule came up benign, but they will continue to pick it apart for the next couple of days just to make sure. I'm home now recovering well, and headed to the lake this weekend to relax further. Thank you to all of our friends, family, and co-workers who have covered me in prayer!

The first one.
So, Scott and I have started a blog! (well, more like I started it...) I don't know that we have much to blog about or how well we'll actually keep up, but let's see if we can't try!
We moved to Nashville in January of 09 for Scott to begin his career as a financial advisor. We purchased our first home together just 3 short weeks after pulling into town, and moved in 2 weeks after that. We're constantly working on the house, as it is about 100 YEARS OLD!!! But we love love love it! I just began working for the Christian Women's Job Corps, where I recruit volunteers to serve our amazing students and their children.
My hope is to publish the general goings on around our house, some fun pictures (if we start taking more), and maybe even some yummy recipes. Scott I'm sure will have some brilliant and insightful things to post, like financial advice and probably even yummier recipes.
Hope you enjoy!
